The Dutch Braid is a fun flirty way to wear your hair this spring. ”Dutch” meaning that pieces are added in from underneath so the braid looks like it’s sitting on top of your head. And the braid itself starts on the underside of the hair and around the perimeter of the head. It’s not hard to do, but kinda hard to describe. Luckily there are about a million how-to videos on Youtube. Go watch ‘em now!

I’d only add one tip: Make sure to put quite a bit of frizz cream in your hair the day you want to braid it. Kerastase Oleo-Relax Line would be perfect. The only thing that ruins a look like this is unruly flyaways. Oh, and a warning: This one takes a little bit of arm power—you spend so much time weaving that your biceps can get tired. Best salon at the Beach! I have foundmy new salon of choice! Immediately upon arriving I was warmly greeted and given a tour of the salon as well as something cool to drink. I was paired with Lee and he did a fantastic job of talking with me about my hair type and what I wanted to acheive. The technique he used to do my foil highlight was one I hadn’t seen before and the results were great! To top it off, I asked him one question about curling my hair at home, i.e. what am I doing wrong, and he proceeded to not only show me an example, but to curl my whole head. Totally above and beyond what I was expecting. I highly recommend them!

Looking Ahead, the most Anticipated Hair Styles of 2013

A fresh new year is upon us friends, get excited!! It’s nice to know what trends we have to look forward to after doing the same thing over and over. You will see pony tails get lower down to the nape of the neck and stick straight with a few wispy pieces around the face. Very romantic and not time consuming. The slick backed look has been popping up on runways, most notably at the London Fashion week 2012. This look is an acquired taste, sometimes you have to bring it down a notch to translate it into your everyday routine. (Unless you are a fashion editor at Vogue or Bazaar!!). The rock n’ roll 90′s tousled waves are a huge hit and my personal favorite, that whole “I just rolled out of bed looking this hot” is so sexy and achievable !!

Something very special about these new trends is that the most notable looks were wearable looks, you won’t need a team of stylist to prepare you. Needles to say, be creative, don’t hold back! Make a statement!! Of course we will be more than excited to help make any decisions or even make recommendations on hair styles or changes that would complement your looks.
